World Surfing Reserves is a collaborative initiative that was founded by Save The Waves Coalition, in conjunction with National Surfing Reserves Australia. It also incorporates other key partnerships including with the International Surfing Association (ISA) to enable collaboration with surfing federations around the world, as well as the Center for Responsible Travel (CREST) at Stanford, a nonprofit dedicated to responsible travel practices around the world.
 
Additional partnerships will be added that continue to expand the depth and reach of the program globally.
