CREST

The Center for Responsible Travel (CREST) is a non-profit research institution with offices in Washington, DC and at Stanford University, whose mission is to design, monitor, evaluate, and improve sustainable tourism practices and principles. Its policy-oriented research focuses on tourism as a tool for poverty alleviation and biodiversity conservation, as well as socially and environmentally responsible tourism practices.

CREST has joined with World Surfing Reserves to promote the potential for surfing and WSR sites as ecotourism destinations, to help improve stewardship of these special coastal areas while still achieving economic and social benefit.
