A Global Model for Protection

World Surfing Reserves was founded in 2009 by an international group of surfers, scientists & environmentalists led by Save The Waves & NSR Australia, to create a global model for proactive surf break protection and stewardship.

Coastal Treasures

As surfers we intuitively know how special these areas are, and it’s up to all of us to help educate the general public on the importance of protecting them. I’m proud to support the World Surfing Reserves effort to dedicate, protect and steward these coastal treasures. ~Greg Long

Bahia Todos Santos, Mexico is an approved World Surfing Reserve. Read about it here.

To be considered for World Surfing Reserve status, sites must first submit a formal WSR Application, as well as meet the WSR criteria. Sites are then voted on and approved by the WSR global Vision Council.
